Can Capacitor, 500c

Newbie Speaking.

There is a buzz through the phono stereo, mono and tape head sections.
When I touched the can capacitor to the immediate left of the "to reverb" it got worse. Then, as I applied some pressure, it got better.

Ideas?

Is it just that can?? If you touch/press on a transformer is there a change?

I picked up a tip from audiodon who, in someone else's thread, suggested that the nut(s) on the transformer bell be tightened. Worked like a charm.

Yes, it seems to be just that can which changes the hum.

You may have a bad solder joint on that can cap. It takes a good bit of heat to ground the can to the chassis, if it was ever replaced in the past, it may not have been grounded properly.
