100-130 wpc receivers, Akai-Yamaha

Had fun looking at this list. I want the Beomaster 8g like nododys business.
I'm a sucker for vintage Beomasters. Unique, futuristic and rare.

Sanyo JCX-2900K...120-125 Watts:)

Service manual claims 140 into 8 ohms and 150+ into 4 ohms, but that's also at 1% distortion. 120 into 8 ohms at .008% THD. I don't think I've ever seen anything else specified quite like that.

I own two of these. The Pioneer SX-1080 and the Akai AA 1200. I go back and forth between them. I might be inclined toward the Akai if I were forced to choose one or the other.

Very Usefull

If receivers from 1986-1988 can be called "vintage" now because it's 2015 them. You can list the:

JVC RX-8V (100 WPC)
JVC RX-9V (120 WPC)
JVC RX-950V (120 WPC)

i think the mcs 3325 needs to be removed from the idea of existence as i and no one else has ever seen it. i cant understand why it was supposedly produced in the years when the 3275 was their top tier model offered. the release of the 3125 was the biggest thing MCS had ever done and was intended to outdo their previous statement with the 3275. everything ive ever heard shows the 3275 was their largest receiver until the 3125. the 3125 wasnt even around for very long and it still has quite mess of information about it. the 3325 is a myth created by someone who imagined thats how MCS would code a 125 wpc receiver considering the way they coined the 3275.

and while the mcs 3125 is rated at 125 wpc @ 8 ohms and impressive specs, on the back it says 290w consumption, its been rated at 130, 145, and 150 by various sources, and the manual apparently warns of 200 watt per channel capability.

this thing is certainly capable of ear damaging sound levels without clipping. it has incredible headroom. also the mcs 3275 has been rumored to bench in the 110-125 watt per channel range. the backside of the 3275 says 220 watt consumption. from what i can tell, all of the NEC made MCS units are underrated a good bit so they have headroom compared to what people think they have to work with.

my mcs 3236 rated at 36 watts per channel says 95w power consumption and seems to have more around 45 quality watts per channel

mcs 3125. rated 125 watts rms x 2 (i think its a little conservative), frequency response 5hz-60khz, .05 THD.. weighs in at 56 lbs

Hey Bully,

I got a few in my collection:

Nikko 130 (100 wpc)
Nikko Alpha II (120 wpc)
Harman Kardon Citation 19 (100 wpc)...

Sony STR-AV950 (115 wpc RMS @ 8 ohm) c.1990

Toroidal transformer, MM/MC phono input, 4 ohm capable, .006% THD. Got one for my wife's bedroom stereo to drive a pair of Rectilinear XII. Sounds quite nice.

Looking for a yamaha CR 2020 and 3020... anyone have one they're willing to part with?

I doubt it... but who knows. ;)

edit Feb '12: found both! within weeks of each other!!

Prices for both are heading nowhere but upwards the last couple years it would seem... (though not $1850 yet) not that I'll ever sell either one. ;)

Sorry, I'm not selling, but I just had my CR2020 brought up to specs and aligned the tuner section. I forgot what a great receiver this is! I'm just listening to NPR and a local fm station through my 75 vintage L-65 Jubals, and enjoying every minute. I did test it on a few CDs and it compared nicely to my other system, McIntosh MX112 - MC225, Kyocera 710 CD player through B&W DM2000's.
