Model 600 as power amp

I tried using my Model 600 as a power amp the other day and noticed the volume output was about ½ of the output while running as “Normal”. It was as though the attenuator switch was set at -15. I checked with 3 different sources thru the preamp but all at the same lower volume level.
If any of you have tried this did you find the same issue?
