Ok so got caught up in buying a few things and well...Ended up with these. Now Goodwill finds aside (We all know a few people have found these for 4.99 at GW)... Real world prices did I overpay?

I couldn't find a definitive answer other than a pair of X50's that sold for 299 free shipping.

These are Technics X30's in decent shape (Grill covers included)...

Paid 175 + shipping.

Same thing, those of course (I'm sure you know) are the Japanese version of this speaker. Guessing it's pretty much the same in all aspects.

Well they are going to be used lol. from what I've heard they sound pretty decent for being the "Crappy" technics brand. Mostly just wanted them to go along with my technics receiver though.

@Balifly - Guessing you like yours? lol

I wouldn't pay that for them, but that is just me. $175+shipping=$225-250?

More importantly, though--are you happy with them and the fact that they match your other Technics components? If so, then they are worth every penny.

Value is subjective. I doubt you will ever be able to get that much money back out of them (especially anytime soon), but if you are happy with them, that's all that really matters. I have gladly overpaid for a few things that I specifically wanted and don't turn up too often. Sometimes it's not about the money or the "score".

Well,to be honest, considering their MRRP in 1978,I'd say you went a little OTT price wise.
But then again, they're in excellent condition and have a good reputation... you could've done a lot worse. BTW,I likes em' a lot :thmbsp:

Makes sense then. You are putting together the ultimate "space ship" stereo system.

Maybe not. I like Diatones and some Pioneers. Here's the poop: http://www.thevintageknob.org/technics-SB-X50.html

Nice!

I believe it only came out to 208. Yeah there's definitely no plan to re-sell them anyhow and I haven't had much luck finding anything else on there other than the smaller X10's for 75 less. Thanks

If you had to compare them to any other well known speaker what would they sound like? I have heard they are pretty good for what they are. I was going to go for the full aluminum speaker they had but I wasn't sure lol.

Haha yeah they'll fit in nicely with the ufo system. Although I would have rather had some of those higher quality APM speakers. Now those would have been the ultimate match for the weird.

Welp bad news for me and the seller. Speakers arrived damaged thanks to bad packing and poor UPS handling. The corners on both pair were bashed pretty good.

That really sucks about the damage. Try to look on the bright side though. Maybe use it as an excuse to upgrade:scratch2:

haha yeah maybe it's for the better. Although I feel pretty bad for the seller. Probably their first time sending speakers and wasn't aware of how bad UPS treats them.

Foam corners are a must on any speaker shipment IMO. Bubble wrap? You have to be kidding me! The claim will probably be denied because of poor packing and UPS's "vintage" clause. Unless you're buying from a specialist, speakers almost always get damaged in shipment. Hang on tho the original packing and try to get your money back ASAP.
