I hope i am ok in posting this, But i thought it was funny as hell. Look at what someone did to this poor Marantz

I am not at all afilliated with this sale.

Interesting. From the ad "The face has been dremeled to fit new controls"

FWIW, that's the way the seller obtained it...

"This unit is in very poor shape, it looks awful and does not work."

I'd love to see the look on markthefixer's face if that landed on his bench~!

a few weeks ago, I picked up a sx 880 that someone painted the knobs and the cabinet black. It was soooooo sad looking that I had to pick it up and do a restoration. Everythinhg was fixable except, for some reason, they scratched off the word Pioneer SX 880 on the front panel. You can't fix that and the scratches will never go away.

I am not sure what they were thinking

Sometimes, ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Sometimes, ya gotta do it with what ya got.

It's sad, but obtaining the correct parts can be impossible at times and places.

I've parted out things because I couldn't get parts that fit and doing a hack job just wasnt worth it.

Before the Internet and AK, it was a dark time.

In this case it's Latin for 'mangled'. Could they not have just used a proper sized drill bit? You'd think a person who has a Dremel also has a drill...

The humanity.

I can only hear Jeremy Clarkson.... If one of those 3" long shafts was somehow a "db attenuator" and someone managed to screw on a rather large ball on it saying "MORE POWER!" LOL
