Kenwood DP-1000 "External" socket..

I have a DP-1000 here with a DIN socket on the back labeled "External". I can't find an owners manual anywhere so I'm not sure what it's for. Any ideas?

*edit* I also need a belt. First time measuring one.. How does one go about finding the proper length?

Most of the wires come off the DSP. Couple of clock outputs and whatnot. Thinking possibly for an external DAC.

I'm think external DAC as well.

It appears to be another type of subcode out jack, as discussed here:

Can't be used to connect an external DAC, sorry.

Not uncommon on earlier CD players but I'm used to seeing the Sony variety.

No worries... they actually reference it as such in the manual but the spelling was "subcord" as far as I could tell from looking at the crappy scan hifiengine.com has linked.
