I am now driving my Yamaha NS690 mkI's with a CR2040 as a preamp pushing Quicksilver Monoblocks. Interesting combo to say the least. I plan on doing some A/B comparison of SS/Tube in the future. However, presently the CR2040 amp section is driving a pair of Pioneer SP-BS21-LR monitors as my computer speakers. I feed the pc output to the CR2040 adaptor input thru a HRT Music Streamer II. The Power amp of the CR2040 remains active even if you use the preampoutputs. I just turn the speaker control off on the CR2040 when listening to music.
