Yamaha CR-620 - how far does the tuning needle swing?

Just curious, when you go off station with a CR-620, how far does the tuning needle swing? Mine doesn't move much, maybe a bit more than 1 division either way. Probably time to investigate the circuitry- suspect AGC might not be working, but I wondered what was normal.

Thanks! We have a data point, anybody else out there? I don't have very strong signals, so it might be perfectly normal.

It will (should) depend on the signal strength, which will depend on proximity to the transmitter and the antenna (orientation - if directional - and gain).

As I recall, the Yamaha's signal strength meters were claimed to be somewhat more "accurate" (or, at least, more useful) than the typical signal strength meters -- most of which are virtually useless. Note that the "calibration" (which isn't really calibrated in meaningful units) is nonlinear (presumably logarithmic). Also, the claim is that the meter measures signal 'quality' as well as strength -- the meter will quaver if there is substantial multipath interference.

EDIT: If you don't have the owners' manual for your CR-620, you can get a copy here: http://akdatabase.com/AKview/thumbnails.php?album=3&page=6
