Hey guys,

Just got this 9900. It was a good deal, just had to have it.
Even though it sounds ok for being all original (will be serviced soon) it's looks are far from perfect.
As you can see, scratched paint fots here and there, the knobs worned out/scratched, the volume round bezel looks pretty bad. But the main thing is, as you can see on the first picture, that bit missing on the front panel's corner,

Do you think there's a way to get all these things fixed or at least improve ? The bezel, I guess Im gonna have to try finding a replacement, I still couldn't figure out if its even possible to take it off. Probably it will be easier to find replacement knobs also.

Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks

The ding on the corner, you could carefully file the rough bits off (use a very fine file), then fill with epoxy (using sellotape to support it while it sets) and repaint just that corner to match.

For most of the other marks, you'll be surprised what you can do with a black 'Sharpie' (a particular kind of indelible black felt tip pen).

I see you have some marks on the metallic 'bronze' paint near the speaker terminals. It depends how far you want to go, but you could dismantle the amp, either completely or enough to be able to mask and re-spray (with a 'rattle can') the marks on that type of finish.

Look on the bright side, it has all it's knobs and buttons :)

Very nice amp :thmbsp:

I do this all the time on black faceplates (especially corners and edges).
This really improves the overall look of black-faced Sansui's.

According to the pictures this amp doesn't look that bad at all (it's almost 40 years old!).

Good luck.

Thanks a lot !! bright and simple solution, didnt even think about using a sharpie marker.

About the corner, isnt that anodized Aluminium ? I read somewhere to be very careful and tht it can be easily ruined.Do you know what kind of paint I should use ?

again, thanks a lot John.

If you use paint, try the Satin Black, and use decent quality products, nothing will match perfectly, you have to age it 40 years....
Don't do anything until the service is done.

I used this particular paint pen with good results on my 9900. It matches up better than a Sharpie IMO, which has more of a purple tint to it.
