Pioneer SX-1050 cleaning question about loose rod.

I recently tracked down my dad's old Pioneer sx-1050 receiver and PL-530 turntable. I was able to buy it from the guy for $100.00!!! Everything sounds and looks great except for the fact that the pots and switches were very noisy. So, as per the advice on this forum I went and bought some deoxit and set about removing the faceplate and the bottom boards. As I flipped the unit over a small 2 inch rod fell out. The problem is, I have no idea where it goes. Any ideas or experience with this?

I have done one 1050 and can not think of where it would of come from.

I'm hoping that it's a stray piece from something else that might have gotten caught years ago and I just knocked it loose when I went to flip it.

i just looked through the service manual and no sign of it there ..am wondering how it got in there .

I just went thru an SX-1050 and didn't see anything like that. I agree with FOD

While you have the bottom off, check those main filter caps, the big black 22,000uf ones, they often are found to be cracked and leaking between the terminals.
