simple listening space

In the socalled 'common room' or living room.

A few day ago I pick up from a thrift shop the Sony TV stand they made for the Trinitron that my buddy unloaded on me a couple years ago.

So in an attempt to simplify things, I moved the entertainment unit out and installed the TV on the stand.

Soon I'll move the speaker to the other side the TV and call it done.

Also trying to get rid of this monstrous computer armoire.

Also an i.age of my simple listening-chair. It's better for my back that something plush and is better for when I want to pick up one of my mandolins.

Currently listening to Appalachai Waltz by Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer and Mark O'Connor. Next it could easily be AC/DC or Rancid or CCR.

Well, it's just my mother and I as I moved back after my father passed. And she's half deaf son I can easily listen to it all. Of course I have to play some of her stuff from time to time as well.

Hope to pick up a Dual 1218 by Friday too. She's buying this one because of the changer feature. I understand the Shure M75-6S isn't much to write ho.e about though?

I set up some more gear in the basement.

Picked up a second identical 9-cube unit today for upstairs. I want them against that wall with the TVinbetween and the speakers at the ends.

Finally sold off the large computer armoire that's been anchoring the inner right corner of the living room for years.

I have an identical 9-cude unit to set up. So they'll be set up with the TV in the middle and the speakers in the corners.

Be careful. Placing speakers in the corners has a tendency to make the bass boomy.

Didn't realise I hadn't added newer pics. Still needs a little tidying, the clock moved and some pictures hung, but I like the sound.

I so much admire people who can simplify. But I have a cluttered mind, and my environment inevitably shows some expression of that.

I also like the OP's eclectic tastes in music, but isn't the design on that chair just a bit busy? :D

Since starting this thread I've had several different turntables and several different receivers set up here.

Currently running an AR XB turntable through a 1972-1974 Pioneer SX-525 receiver I snagged a few days ago.

Thinking I want to move the more-modern Sony CD player away from the vintage things.

But all in all, I've got crystal clear dynamic sound and the TV plugged into the 'tape' ports out back. That seems to work well.

Unfortunately with so many other interests, the area is in a perpetual state of clutter :/

The space is like one of those games where you have to find things in the pictures of clutter.

Quite obvious is a large German "bracket" clock made between the two world wars, a red Iron Horse engine shroud from a 1954ish Lawn-Boy mower, various vintage glass-topped mason jars, a Model-T type scew jack that my father used to use with our old travel when I was a kid, a simple vintage Darius guitar amp that was sold by Sears back in the day, an Art & Lutherie acoustic guitar in case, two quality mandolins and an NOS, 2014 100th Anniversary Gibson SGJ electric guitar I paid $99. for.
