RX-V1900 IR Receiver broken

The IR Receiver on my RX-V1900 seems to be broken.

The amp does not react to anything being sent from the remote (and yes, it's in the Amp setting) although the remote can be used with loads of other devices without problems.

I sent it to the shop but they basically said "we can't get it to work".

Anybody else encountered this?

No, but like anything else I suppose it's possible.

The IR receiver is probably a rather generic part you could buy online, but whether or not it's the receiver or some other part of the circuit I don't know.

Some AVRs have input(s) on the back for external IR input/control. Does yours?

Actually, it does have an IR input...it is called "Remote IN". See page 22 of the manual....
You're right! My google skills must be deteriorating; I'm sure I investigated that opportunity.

Anyways, a similar device has been ordered through eBay (at <£3 including shipping...). If it works, I owe you one. If not, I've wasted £3 :)

As a last ditch effort, have you checked through the receiver's configuration settings to see if the external IR input must be enabled, or whatever?
