Fisher in the UK

Hello all :)
I'm looking for a Fisher specialist in the UK, or at least a used dealer who sometimes has them...

I heard a 500C a year or so back at my American friend's house and decided it's the receiver for me. Unfortunately I never see any mention of Fisher units here in the UK.

Anyone know of a used dealer they recommend I try?

Thanks.

Well, if you don't find someone over there, maybe you should talk to AK member sony6060 (no affiliation), who has been restoring quite a number of Fisher amps and receivers for many here on AK. He just restored my Fisher 800B and it's really sounding smooth. I live in his area so I picked up my receiver from him in person, but I know he's meticulously shipped a few items out to various members here in the U.S., so maybe it's not too much of a stretch to send one out across the pond. He's getting a whole bunch of Fisher receivers in shortly, so the timing might be right.

Hi dfmb,

I used to live in the UK and worked on Fishers. Too bad, we're now in France but relocating to the States next year.

There are some in the UK but not many. I used to search ebayUK daily but few would show up - try the French, German & Scandinavian ebay sites too.

Also, you might ask on UK Vintage Radio:

Lots of guys with loads of tube experience plus a few have Fishers.

One other thing, don't be put off from buying one from the States - I had a few shipped over. What you'd pay in sterling in the UK might be more - even including shipping & duty in dollars, plus atm the pound is strong to the dollar. Join AudioKarma as a subscriber and post a wanted ad you're sure to find a good one from a reputable member.

Welcome to AK and hope you find your Fisher.

Excellent idea!

Thanks a lot for the replies Gents. Maybe I should tie in a trip to the States, and bring one back in my carry-on luggage? (Would it fit?)
Thanks again :)

Hey Bruce: I thought you let have one from your horde :D :D

Hey NotD,

Sadly, sold them all before our move :tears:
Plan to rebuild once we're back in the good ol' U S of A

Maybe not carry-on but sure can go in checked baggage, they're under 50lbs - BTDT :)
