Waiting for Vintage Gear from this century
Reading one of the BT ads, the OP was in discussions about the item, a cartridge, and there was more discussion of the table, arm and other parts of the system. The OP was commenting on his choice of input control devices, a preamp in this case, and I just marveled at the simplicity of the solution buying too much gear.
Mister Pig wrote, "I only have two inputs on my pre-amp, so i get one phono stage and one CD player...that's it. Keeps me from spending money!"
I have always enjoyed multiple-input control units partly because my first preamp was a Sony TA-2000 with lots of inputs. I usually looked away when one did not have enough inputs for all my gear. Receivers fit in this group, especially the lower powered units with only a Phono, Aux and single tape loop.
Maybe I need to rethink this whole stereo main rig thing, with this thought in mind, "I only have two inputs on my pre-amp, so i get one phono stage and one CD player...that's it. Keeps me from spending money!," I could save a lot of money. And since we are talking money, I posted this in $&¢.
Gear Collectors are a different bunch as are those that have never had a piece of gear they didn't love. I'm somewhere in this group because I am slow at selling off stuff, or is it folks are slow at buying the stuff I have for sale, I don't know.
But I like Mister Pig's comment either way.
