330w per channel @ 8 Ω
540w per channel @ 4 Ω
600w per channel @ 2 Ω

The preamp never gets out of passive mode and the volume control stays below 13%.

G'day, I am just getting my system back together after a long hiatus. Three of the amps have currently been serviced and hope to pick them up next week.

2 SAE 2600 400 watts into 8 ohm
2 SAE 2400 200 watts into 8 ohm

I have an SAE 2100 to control them but I am still repairing speakers and possibly replacing a couple of them.

I have a Sansui Classique A-900 which is the regular amp that I use which is rated at 65 watts per channel, but I never listen past 3 in the volume scale.
That's probably not even 25% of its rated power.

Currently...Bad Pun isn't it! My system changes whenever I think about it, but lately it tends to alternate between a primarily SS and a mainly tube system. The SS system consists of a Chip Amp designed by Kevin Haskins and a SS Linestage designed by myself. This System's Amp puts out ~70 watts and is intended for "normal" speakers.

The other System is a tube preamp/HP amp into a 45 SET/Class A SS amplifier that outputs around 17- 18 watts of wonderful Single Ended Sound. This will be the electronics used for my Hi-Eff system, when I finally finish designing my new speakers!

Best Regards,
TerryO

In total 375wpc into 8 Ohms (double that into 4); but that is made up of one amp with 75wpc driving mid and tweeters and another with 300wpc driving the bass.

This year I dropped down from 200/channel (Dynaco Stero 400) to 75/channel (McIntosh MA2600). Makes me :D:banana::D:banana:

Average power ratings for my Denon 8 Ohm rating is 110w, 20Hz-20kHz at less than .05% THD, with both channels driven, or 140w into 6 Ohms.

My Sony claims 110w at 8 Ohms but only at 1kHz and at 0.5%THD or 80w, 20-20kHz at 0.07% THD.

My ancient (1972) Kenwood at 8 Ohms is a whopping 18w, 20-40kHz at 0.5% THD.

Continuous average power is derived from the root mean square (RMS) of AC voltage and current and referring to it as "RMS watts", "RMS power", or "watts RMS" is incorrect. The correct term is "continuous average power", which is proportional to the RMS voltage. Of course, "RMS watts" or its variants, though technically incorrect, are in common usage: everybody uses it and most understand the general if not the specific meaning.

I have amps ranging from 40wpc (NAD 3140 intergrated) up to 200wpc (Adcom GFA-555 mkI) and a few inbetween a 50wpc (Adcom GFA-5200) a 60wpc (Adcom GFA-535 mkI) a 65wpc (Kenwood KA-7300 integrated) a 100wpc (Adcom GFA-545 mkI) and a 110wpc (Onkyo M-5100).

And a receiver that's 110wpc (JVC RX318BK).

Dont really have any "main" amp(s),as the "main" amp kinda depends on what part of the house I am in @ that time, and which system I am listening to.

The NAD 3140 and JVC RX318BK are in the basement in my work area.

The Adcom GFA-555 & GFA-545 are in my rack enclosure.

The Adcom GFA-535 is in the bedroom.

The Adcom GFA-5200 is in the living room for now.

The Kenwood KA-7300 is part of my vintage silverface system,it's currently hibernating in the living/dining room.

The Onkyo M-5100 is a spare/back-up just in case something else dies.

That ^^^^ amp will likely be a companion to the Kenwood Basic C1 preamp I just scooped up on Ebay.

Next amp purchase will likely be a NAD 2600 (150wpc) to go with my NAD 1300 preamp.

And yeah from time to time stuff gets moved around some too.

FWIW

Mc2200, rated as 200 watts, tested in stereo at 265 watts and in mono at 298 watts, currently strapped in mono, rated as 400 watts but obviously a lot more!

I use an Ayre V-5xe which is rated to 150W into 8 OHms, per channel. 300W into 4 Ohms, each channel which does a pretty good job driving Thiel.

Sunfire Signature 600x2@8ohms.
Sunfire Cinema Grand 400x5x8ohms (all channels driven)
A-760x (back subs) 380x2@8ohms
A-220 (100x2@8ohms) front surrounds.

I've got a couple of the big vintage Pioneer silver SX's in other systems, mated to various HPM's.

I started out with a Pioneer SX-680. Under powered, but it sounded better than it had any right to. It got stolen out of my first apartment and I spent years trying to find amps that sounded as good for the money I had to invest. I could find great stuff that wasn't affordable and awful stuff I wouldn't take home if given to me. I eventually found a pair Bob Carver's M1.0t's and a M-400 for a second/rear set of speakers. Retail audio was weird where I lived in the '80's. God bless the Inter webs......

Questionable because the amp I am currently using for a first try at going back to vinyl is a Yamaha DSP A1000
Using just the 2 main channels which are rated at 80 watts, all other channels and processing are shut off.

Kind of like a "MUTE" question in the first place all this talk about power!
I can listen to any media(Radio,Vinyl,CD,R2R,Cassette on whatever I have been listening to on Amplifiers,Receivers, SS or Tubes regardless of ( Watts) as far as Power goes, and it all sounds good and always has:)

Watts are relative. I went from 200wpc solid state to 70wpc tube a while back, and that lil tuber kicks the sand amp's silicon a$$.
