1983 A-1000 Integrated and a Denon DL103R

Will my adjustable MM/MC phono section on my A-1000 match up with a Denon DL103R MC cart? I had a different receiver/phono section with the ATOC9ML/II cart that I used a Denon AU-300LC -OFC step up transformer.

Thanks

Try it and see how it sounds. I paired one with the MC in my old CA-1010 and it was a good match. If not, use the Denon SUT into the MM setting.

My vintage Yamaha A-1000 Integrated has a adjustable MC/MM phono section. It has a 10X and 100 ohm setting for MC..... the D103R works Great on the 10X(10X=???) side and on the 100 ohm setting it sounded like crap. I received a PM from a member that advised me to use the 100 ohm side. Do remember what setting you used on your CA-1010? I know... hey it sounds great don't worry about it........ but I had this A-1000 re-capped so I wondered if the Tech crossed a wire somewhere.

According to the DL103R manual the load Z is 100 ohm min.

See page 8 fig. 10
of the A-1000 owners manual.

Thanks ...... I read that today, the reason I posted again and I just tried the 100 ohm setting again and music is crap and low volume.:scratch2: I have a second A-1000 that needs the MC worked on as that side does not work at all. IIRC I PM you a few months ago for a repair estimate that was very fair but at the time I was low on cash. Then I found a second A-1000 local (cheep) and had it worked on local(traded parts for labor). I wish now I had shipped the first Yamaha to you. :sigh: Looks like a wire is crossed somewhere in the MC section on this second one..... :tears: It sure does sound Great on the 10X MC side.:scratch2: I hooked up my Pickering XUV MM to the MM side and works great 47/220.

This morning I hooked up a Denon SUT AU-300LC to the TT 2 MM side of the phono section. Now the D103R is MUCH better sounding, in both channels now. Last night I noticed the right speaker was a bit weak sounding when moving the balance knob full L to R. Glad I have the Denon SUT to use (thanks Autobot) as both of my mid 80's A-1000 have a problem with the MC phono section :sigh:
