A fellow AKer just gave me a m95ed and curious what stylus you guys recommend... I know a jico sas would be great but can't afford that right now so other options would be awesome

Soundring, who are an Australian seller I can recommend (they've been around for decades), have genuine Shure N95ED styli here http://www.soundring.com.au/genuine-shure-n95ed-elliptical-stylus/ . That’s another option, and it will then sound as Shure intended. The price of $89.95 is in Australian dollars, and includes worldwide postage - that's less than US$60 after the Australian 10% GST is removed (it's not charged to overseas purchases), according to Yahoo's currency converter.

I truly hope this is the stylus for me.... The omega is growing on me but for fast rock and metal the omega loses its definition... I've read the m95 excels at rock and metal

FYI

Just ordered a N75ED-type 2 stylus from Sondring, the total cost after shipping was $69.35 USD. Shipping was about $10 USD. I was going to try a Jico HE and still may someday.

That'll be a gigantic disappointment. Check the link again. For sure it looks like a Shure. It also says 'Genuine' :scratch2:

Yup... that's what I read as well:

Product Description
Genuine Shure Stylus. (New old stock)

Shure N95ED elliptical replacement stylus for the Shure M95ED cartridge.

Has a nude mounted 0.2 x 0.7 mil elliptical tip. Also serves as an upgrade for the M95G, and M95EJ cartridges as well as being a more affordable, but still very high quality option for the M95HE as well. New Old Stock GENUINE SHURE in original factory packaging.

I already have a Jico SAS on my M95ED, but thanks for the link anyway. Good to know.

I wouldn't jump the gun just yet. AFAIK the stylus is OEM

Depends on the application of the definition of OEM. If it's a Shure stylus repackaged in Soundring packaging ... no issue ... except that would be very misleading advertising on their website.

If worldwide shipping is included in the purchase price, as identified previously here and on their website (quote: Styli & Turntable Belts: Free delivery any destination.), why did they charge you $10?

Yes, I must admit I thought that meant free worldwide shipping. It definitely used to mean that, and it was clearly specified to mean free worldwide shipping, as indicated in this 2012 archive of their website http://web.archive.org/web/20110314155352/http://www.soundring.com.au/ , which says "Free postage worldwide".

However, Soundring has recently (last year, I think) changed hands, and is now owned by Brisbane-based turntable specialist Decibel Hi-fi, who may have changed that policy - maybe "any destination" no longer means worldwide.

Well my 'quote' is right off their website under FAQ / Shipping. I'd take them to task on that.

I'll stir the pot a bit more ..... if they did change hands and Don's experience was with Soundring prior to change of ownership, I'd say all bets are off.

It was - I haven't dealt with them under the new ownership. They were previously a Sydney company, but have moved a long way north to Brisbane now.

Thanx for all the good info guys if the stylus on the cart I'm getting is infact oem I'm pretty well set if not than I'm still on the hunt! Lol

Decibel HiFI are proper retailers. So far have dealt with them online a few times.
Doubt they were even aware of the Soundring postage position. Maybe they need 'reminding' ;)
