Yamaha CR-1020, Vinyl or Veneer?

I have a gorgeous zebra wood CR-1020 but can't figure out whether its cabinet is vinyl or real wood veneer. It looks like vinyl to me.

Well, it's not a 1020. It's a 1040. And though it is vinyl or similar "fake" stuff, it is pretty good. Nice receiver!
The 1020 is walnut veneer - real wood.

Right, 1040. I wonder how I can get the oily stuff off without damaging the vinyl.

I think some dish soap and lukewarm water would get something oily off safely. I have the CR820- vinyl.
