Kenwood KR-7600. Holy cow.

This is a great receiver. It sounds unbelievably good with my Klipsch Quartets. Life-like midrange and deep, potent bass. Tuner & phono stage both outstanding. The build quality seems to rival anything I've taken apart to Deoxit. It is stunningly beautiful, especially with the wood case and LED conversion. Loaded with features. How come nobody ever told me about this receiver before, LOL? And how could its MSRP back in 1976 be only HALF that of the similarly power rated Pioneer SX-950? Isn't this just one step down the ladder from what Echo Wars has called one of the greatest receivers of the era? There's a lot I don't understand but I do know this receiver is incredible and it isn't going anywhere.

If it sounds half as good as it looks, you're in good shape.

1980 Kenwood was 530 new list (kenwood didn't sell for list) and was 70wpc
1977-1979 Pioneer was 650 new list and didn't get that either and was 85 a side.

The higher powered Pioneer would have a higher list price.

Very nice indeed! No doubt about it,Kenwood manufactured some of the very best receivers.

With regards to the MRRP... I've read conflicting reports, some say it was $530 which was around $70 less than the $600 Pioneer SX-950. (that would make sense as the TOTL Kenwood KR-9600 MRRP was $750 compared to the $900 TOTL Pioneer SX-1250).

The combination of the klipsch and the output of your new Kenwood must be a good marriage. My Klispch have always been power hungry (to bring them alive). Congrats on your new acquisition! Love my 'big boy' Kenwoods too!

Thanks for the MSRP info. Somewhere I was seeing $299 so I was way off. It does sound as good as it looks, and the photos don't do it justice. LEDs never look as cool in photos. :)

In fact, yours has got the optional Kenwood wood cabinet. These were very expensive,so with this in-mind it would've cost more than the Pioneer SX-950 at the same time :thmbsp:

i have a 6600, looks nearly identical to your 7600, mine sounds/looks awesome as well..............:D
