This is my favorite quadraphonic receiver, the Harman Kardon 900+.

HK900.jpg

This was Harman Kardon's top of the line quadraphonic receiver, boasting a built-in SQ decoder and CD-4 demodulator. Inside one finds two power transformers, one for each pair of channels. Another neat feature is the FM quieting meter which indicates the relative signal to noise ratio of a broadcast signal. Used with an antenna on a rotator, one can easily find the best (quietest) signal.

Sanyo DCX-3500K

The only fully-operational, near-mint quad I ever had. Kinda pretty, no?

Does anyone have any doubt what my favorite is? :music:

Why the Sylvania RQ-3748 of course! Maybe the RQ-4748 if I ever find one. :D

A lot of nice units.

Yes, that looks sweet. What is the make and model?

BTW, tcdriver, I love the odd colored displays on your H/K!
Yea, it has the most different colors of any receiver that I have seen. A lot of the other receivers posted also are very attractive. There is nothing quite like the look of four VU meters on the front of a receiver to make it look something special. Keep the pictures coming.

My "Williamsons" is the rebadge of that HK model --identical except for the name printed on the front. [Discussed in an earlier thread.] Has developed a few audio issues, so is back on the projects stack awaiting a recap and going-over, but I sure do like the colors on it, and the brief taste I had of its sound quality suggests it will be my favorite, too, once I get to it. [Too easy to get stuff here... I get it faster than I can fix it all! Need to declare a moratorium on gear-hunting and acquisitions for a month or two, to get caught up.]

Still looking for a TOTL Sansui quad, a TOTL Marantz quad, and a Fosgate/Tate decoder. One day, one day...{sigh}...

Thanks, tcdriver. It's a Sanyo DCX-3500K, long since sold to a young fella who needed a receiver for the turntable I sold him.:music:

This one's my favourite - the only one I have. I built it about 20 years ago.

I like this one. Have to keep my eyes pealed: :para:

I like my RQ-3748 too - solid piece, and completely unknown. My favorite Quad receiver, however, would have to be either my Harmon/Kardon 800+ (for the cool display colors, a great tuner, and decent quad synthesis modes) or the Sansuis - QRX-7001 and -7500 (a member of the six-swinger club). The Kenwood KR-9940 is another six-swinger club member, but has a channel down so I haven't compared it.

I owned a 4400 with a wood cabinet sq full logic module builtin scope. worked perfectly after I cleaned the controls. Sold it to a guy who picked it up.
