Sansui vs Marantz vs Pioneer

They are all your own personal opinions. Each has low end stuff and each had hi-end.

For ex.

Pioneer SX-1250>Sansui 7070
Sansui G-9000>Pioneer SX-450
Pioneer SX-1250>Marantz 2220
Marantz 2325>Pioneer SX-450
Sansui G-9000>Marantz 2220
Marantz 2325>Sansui 7070

I cant think of anyone that would disagree.

I'm sure others may debate this and please guys don't flame me, I'm just trying to help and this is by no means comprehensive or meant as an "umbrella" answer.

In my findings and I have all three makers...

Sansui 9090, AU-717 and a BA2000/CA2000
Marantz 2325/2265B
Pioneer SX-1250 and let go a SA8500II

The Sansui's are most sonically true, that is clean, transprent uncolored sound

The Marantz 2325 is known for it's 3 martini sound, warm, rich and romantic (too colored for my tastes)
but at the same time the 2265B doesn't seem to present itself like that at all to me. It reminds me more of the Sansui's. A little more clear and transparent.

The Pioneers to my ears seem to fall in between Sansui and Marantz. At times warm East coast sound while at other time more West coast, brighter and more clear. Actually the Pioneer sound is hard for me to describe.

There are so many variables to deal with here, speaker pairing, personal preference, types of music etc. that it's actually hard to compare their sounds. But in nutshell that's the way they sound to me.

For my money it's a toss up between Pioneer and Sansui. They're all powerful and have their own signature sound. Right now my Marantz's are spares and I rotate between the other two.

Now for the disclaimer, if I could have only 1.....my SX-1250. Floats like a butterfly, stings like a charging rhino!

I'm sure your question will be better answered later but I took a shot. Take your time, pick up pieces by them all and decide what YOU like. It's a whole lotta fun that way!......R1

It all depends on the final system, but generally to me the Pioneer sounds brighter, the Marantz warmer and Sansui in the middle. Speakers make a big difference. Your preference in music to a degree will also dictate which brand you like.

I have/had recievers and separates of each of these makers and they all sound good to me. Just different.

I really haven't heard any by those three that I didn't think sound pretty good. I think the pioneers i have had were the most bulletproof, the sansui's, well being in the navy I have heard many many of them, hell I thought for years they were made by the Navy Department, lol, but seems to always have to futz with them, clean switches..etc etc..couldn't take more than a couple beers poured on them without whining. Marantz I always thought when i looked inside they were built by pregnant rats. good sound but scary inside.

Are we talking when new when refreshed or as found on the shelf at GW and a little DeOxit.

What source what speakers what room what are your ears like what music.

My Pioneer SA-9100 does not sound like My SX-650 or SX-3000 It sure didn't sound anything like the one Sansui amp I had a AU-3900 (had to take it out of the office system couldn't stand it) Nor does it sound like the great little Marantz 1060 I had until a week ago.

there is no answer that is anything but limited subjective guessing for your question. Sorry.

The list of variables is so great as to make any answer worthless.

Now would it sound like a SA-9800 or 9500 or SX-1050 or 1980. they all sound a little different. Now which different is better ONLY YOU CAN DECIDE THAT.

You can delete your own Avatar. I like the little pony glue factory I also liked horse the two times I ate it.

Sometimes it could come down to appearances.

Little doubt that there are probably more Pioneers out there.
