Where the Heck are All the ADS L8e and L9e Speakers?!

I have a pair of the ADS L8e 2-way speakers and I just love em. Sounds way better than all the other ADS that I've heard.

I would really like to get a hold of the 3-way L9e's. I've never seen one and I've only seen one other pair of L8e's.

Any of you guys have a pair from the L#'s series and what do you think?

I guess nobody here has "newer" ADS or a/d/s/ speakers. I recently purchased some S700's and had no comments from any owners in this thread.

Nobody else owns some L9e, L8e, or L8e speakers??? :scratch2:

Does being able build a set of L8e's or L9e's from squirreled away parts count?

I found a pair of L9e's. But the guy isn't going to give them up. This guy just sold some Celestion 1s & 3s, ADS L-570s & 300s and has some Polk RTA, Hereseys and KEF Q50s that he is getting rid of. But not the L9e's.

This is the closest I've come.

What's the difference between the 8s and 9s beside one being 2 way and the other 3 ways? And do you have the goodies to make some L9e's?

Cableguy, I like your qute. It's my favorite line from Silence of the Lambs. Ted Levine was great in the movie and especially that scene. :thmbsp:

I've no idea about the "L*e" series, what they look like, sound like, nothing.

But you've piqued my interest...

The addition of the 206-0219 midrange, a 3-way crossover, & a slightly taller cabinet to accomodate the mid made it an L9e. I think they both used the same metal grille too.

Alright smart guy, I suppose having a set of B9* cabinets to put them in doesn't truck much with you either?

:p:

*B9 was the proposed 3-way in the B7 & B8 line but mercifully was never put into production. It became an L9e rather than benign.

FWIW, the L8e was a favorite of many employees there including me and it was a great all-rounder. The L7e may have even been a bit better sounding but needed to be matched with a subwoofer.
 
I have a pair of L9e's in Walnut. :D :D :D

Use them on an a/d/s Model 10 Acoustic Dimension Synthesizer. That's 3 big words for "digital delay".

3 way, compact cabs, the newest tweeter. They sound good. I recall a pair on Epay last year going over $700. :yikes:

LOL my L9e's came from a pawnshop in Hudson, MA. Very minty for $49.
They were right next to a pair of Panasonic "Thrusters" that the Pawnshop wanted $119 for. :D :smoke:

Most pawns I've dealt with over the years seemed pretty attuned to extracting maximum cash from their typical customer. Quality had little do with it as maximum shiny usually sells for more.
 
I now have three pair of ADS. L520, L-710 and the bookshelf size, I can't remember the model number.. Perhaps 420?

I compare ADS with B&W.. You think?

I'd love to here your Acoustic dimension synth. I have two, and neither function. I've got the powered model (built in amp), both of them.

I got so frustrated I later picked up the Nikko delay to use. But haven't, yet.

If you get a chance, tell me how you feel about the ADS synth, if you use it often, if you even like it.

Now that we can post pictures again...

The bottom one is an L7e, the top two are L8e. I think the pics of the L8e are onepixel's. I believe the M12's are newer than the L8e's. My S700's are similar, maybe newer, vintage to the M12's. Soundmotor did I get that right?
