Family Portrait: My Allison Acoustics

As promised, here's a photo of all of my Allison Acoustics speakers in one place.

Front row center: Allison CD8s
Front row outside: Allison Eights
Back row: three pairs of Allison CD6s (two pairs in oak, one pair in walnut)
Note: Yes, the drivers are missing from the center pair of CD6s -- I'm getting ready to refoam the woofers, and picked up a replacement tweeter today.

I'm still looking for a pair of CD7s and CD9s, maybe a pair of Allison Fours.

I just love the way they sound!

You see what happens when you leave a set of Allisons alone together at night...

And I still have six more pairs of various brands in my listening room! I've got to thin the herd soon! BTW -- I do have that Allison brochure for you, I just haven't gotten near the post office this week!

Very nice looking collection!

I have some older 4s that need some work. Even with the shot surrounds it sounded pretty good.

Thanks for the compliment. :D

The Allison Fours are an interesting speaker, but I am told that precise room placement is critical and takes awhile to figure out properly.

Once I get my hands on a pair of them I'll do what it takes to get it "right."

The 4's are indeed interesting speakers. They look like Bose 901's with the tweeters angled on either side and the woofer firing upwards. I stuck mine on some stands and without giving thought on placement and I was surprise how good they sounded.

I should get them fixed up!

Definitely fix 'em up -- they are worth the effort.

Over the years I've come across -- and lost track of -- information on how to place them. If I can find it again I'll send it to you, although it sounds like you got it right on the first try!
