Sansui 800 receiver

I have tried to find the specs and info about this receiver, does anyone know anything about this one??? I tried the search function of this forum, but not results. I have a chance to get one and want to know how it stacks up against the 881 receivers I recently obtained. I am guessing it is older than the 881, but not way to be sure.

I have to decide if I want to buy this unit. I have not heard any personal opinions on this so I am as yet undecided. I have my Sansui 881 receivers and a model 6 receiver that I really like since I use it down at a weekend getaway trailer and it picks up FM much better than most receivers I have tried down there, and the sound is not too bad. The 881 is decent on FM and the sound is better than first time running. That usually is the case of a amp that sits for awhile. A little bit of play time on them and they usually get better with time as far as sound quality is concerned.

Hey Ron,

I did a search and found this old thread. I picked up a sansui 800 today, complete with all literature, original sales invoice from 1971. 590.00 CND dollars. It's got the operating guide, sales brochure, service manual and schematic diagram.

If you are still looking for info, i've got it:D

FYI, I also got a set of sansui sp-50 speakers, again with original sales brochure and users guide.

I forgot all about it til your thread reply. I don't remember what happened when I was looking for that info, I think it was a e-bay item.

I ended up getting 2 881 receivers, both of them just sitting around lately.

I only got it home an hour ago and haven't listened to it yet. I've had the AU-555 and AU-666 and they had a nice warm sound to them. This is around the same era so I'm expecting decent sound from it. I think the receivers are a little more user frinedly, it is kind of a pain to have to use an external tuner, especially if the unit is used by the kids or wife. I figured for 50 bucks for the receiver, the speakers and all the literature I couldn't lose. One more to add to the collection.:D

I'll probably post a bit more about it once I play with it a bit, maybe some pics too.
 
It's funny I searched this thread a couple of days ago.I picked up an 800 last weekend.Was in such good shape I couldn't leave it for $15.00.This little guy sounds great!Very warm!I think these were 30-35 watts a side.After listening to it for a while I pulled out a Pioneer SX-650 to compare.I'd much rather listen to an 800.I think you will like it too Krimney.....

is what the sales brochure advertises it as. the specs actually have it at 28wpc into 4 ohms and 22 into 8, continuous power.

Music power (IHF) is 70w/4ohm and 58w/8ohm

Mine seems to work fine, sounds good. With the sp-50 I think it's a little harsh sounding but I did notice some depth from the little horn tweeter.
