The 2A3 amp that MN AKers built

Redboy

a few good watts
Man, does ejfud do beautiful work!!!

Gary generously offered to build a base for my DIY 2A3 amp. Knowing he consistently turns out nice product (and knowing better than to look a gift horse in the mouth), I told him to build it however he saw fit. I think he did an awesome job!

Pictures tell the story better than I can:

Redboy, again Congratulation, go to 45 Set, go to 5K in the Zoutput transformer (james) and cathode resistant 1.5 K ohms and ready, In this moment i listened Carmina burana, Fortuna emperatrix, oh fortuna the Single Ended Triode Sound and enjoy the music, Best regards, Martin, the next project, 10y (VT-25)

I have said it before and it bears repeating. Man, that turned out nice!

How does it sound, how does it sound!

Well... it sounds nice.

Nice enough that I don't see any turning back from this course! RC, this thing pulls detail out of my music in a way that makes the little SE 6BQ5 Olson sound like it was playing through layers of blankets. I was prepared for the 2A3 to sound different, but I'd been so impressed with the 6BQ5 sound that I didn't think it could have sounded that much better. It's a bit of a revelation to me, really. You'll have to come do a little listening yourself sometime soon, to tell me if I'm imagining things.

:scratch2: Let's see, how does one describe this?.... Beautiful, stunning, gorgeous? Refined, elegant, tasteful? Nice, attractive? Pretty? Positively pulchritudinous, maybe even sexy?

I've got it: "All the above!"

Seriously, that's a very attractive amp, and nicely photographed. If it sounds half as good as it looks, it'll be a real treat. Congratulations! :thmbsp:

One hell of a nice job! Markus is working on a Sylvania for me, scavenged out of a console, that I am anxious to hook up! My first footstep into the world of tubes...

Grad to be of some help in the project.

Get her dialed in and have me over for a listen.

Hard to believe this was your first project. Great job.

I doubt you are imagining anything. The two should sound quite a bit different I would imagine. In comparision to the push pull HF81, even a greater difference.

I would like to bring a few things (CD's) over to listen to if you don't mind. A handful of music I'm very familiar with.
