Well after countless hours of great reads on threads about Glenn Jr's wonderfull work I finally got my own to brag about (he said I could:D).

Right before he sent it out to me he double checked to make sure everything was running up to snuff he noticed the tuner had a slight static that he didn't think should be there. He contacted me and said he really didn't want to send it out like this and ended up sending back to the guy that does all his tuner work. It took a couple weeks and Glenn sending him a couple boards to canablize parts from, he got it working like a champ again.:thmbsp:

I haven't been a member of AK that long and feel very grateful to all you guy's to have other people to share my newfound joy of vintage audio. Hopefully I can make it to AK Fest one of these years!

My new ECOWARS SX-1250 on top and my 1250 that's going to be put in reserve duty (I don't think I will be needing it anytime soon):D.

Just so we're all clear, that would be Punker X (Mike) who beat the IF board into submission. He's the man.

As far as the unit, you are more than welcome. Was a long journey from the pile 'O parts that it started out as. Hope it serves you well.
 
Thanks Glenn for making that clear and thanks goes out to Mike as well for all his hard work that went into it.

The way it sounded it ended up be a part that NEVER goes bad but guess what, it did and that's why we need these guy's around that have been around the block a few times and know what they are doing to fix our gear.

I have heard all kinds of praise regarding Glenn's work.
I someday hope to have him go through my 1250.
But it will have to be a time when I can drive it out to Glenn and drive back and pick it up. There is NO WAY I will take the chance and ship this,as it is to precious to me. And of course also when Glenn can schedule me in.
My 1250 plays great but needs some deoxite in some buttons and being 29 years old ---I feel some components within need to be checked and replaced as needed.

I wouldn't worry about shipping it to him. This box has been reused a couple of times and it still looks great. It's lined with a couple layers of polystyrene sheathing on the inside to protect the contents. I'm actually sending it back to him so he can reuse it since it's cheaper to ship it back then make a new one. I promised I would return it since he bent over backwards for me to get the 1250 working like it should. If your serious about getting yours gone through, I'm sure he would let you know how to pack it correctly for a safe trip or he could probably ship the box to you. I believe he has done this for people before that don't have the capability to build one. Probably under $20 to ship the box to you. I thought about driving down to get it but an 8 hour drive one way with $3.00 gas just doesn't make sense.
 
Yep, mine went KC to MI and back in an Echowars box, nearly indestructible. I've recently reused the box for a round trip to TN for an integrated amp, and it's still good.

I am thoroughly enjoying my EW/PunkerX detailed SX-1250 and will add my cheers for these and all the great techs out there.

I would like to see that, too... as long as it doesn't look like those Russian idiots beating up on that old Marantz receiver! :yikes:
 
Weird problem on this one.. Echo sent it to me thinking it was a flacky semiconductor. An it seemed like one of the opamps was making the noise. Ended up being the the discriminator transformer. Just happened to have the webcam going when it happened.. :smoke:

Here is what I would use, with the assistant to bring it to me.
After all, audio repair is a spiritual art, a martial art, and a transcendent experience, when done right. :yes:

Otherwise, it is pinched fingers, burnt thighs, tired eyes, sore back, and lots of swearing, sweating and headscratching. :no:

Ha ha, writing 'BAD' on parts is awesome. That reminds me of work, where if a fuse blows, 'we' (and by that I mean people other than I) write BAD on it, and put them next to the cabinet they blew in. This is really weird considering the fuses are for 250 hp electric motors, and cannot be rebuilt.
