ADC -18 speakers

There is already a thread on the ADC 18, with some descriptions of the speaker and the company. What its doesn't have is pictures (I think they may have disappeared when AK changed servers), so if you can provide some, that would be nice. I'm particularly curious if, in fact, the drivers actually are KEF drivers, since I think the 18 was made earlier than KEF speakers were around, and though the woofer is rather rectangular, its not very much like the B 139, if my memory of it is correct.

My interest in the 18s is a result of a general interest in ADC. I started out in the seventies a big fan of high compliance cartridges and low mass arms (I'm broader minded now), and ADC was at the forefront of that trend. I thought the 303AX was a fine speaker for its price and loved the little speaker whatever its number was.
I am also a fan of old equipment, the odder the better, and if my memory of the cosmetics of the 18 are correct, its driver complement and presentation are genuinely unusual -- the protruding panel for the woofer and the cocked integrated stand.

You use the manage attachments to post pictures. But they have to be sized properly and no larger than 190 kb for jpg. What's your issue with posting the pictures?

Here they are guys more to follow.Well the tweets are dead as a door nail.dose anyone have a suggestion they are 4 1/8 inches in totle diamator and the tweet itsself is 2 inches.the 3rd pic on the top is play of light all the wood is the same color the flash made the left speaker look like one top peice of wood is a differant color but its not.

I almost bougt a pair of these some years back, unfortunately I was on the way back from my tech who had just taken all of my money. Kinda wish I had bounced a check for em. BTW they should sound pretty good.

Those look great. Have you listened to them yet?
As a temporary expedient as you figure out what to do about the tweeters, you might try an Advent tweeter or maybe a KLH, both of which can take a reasonable amount of power at relatively low frequencies. Can't see how you'd fit them through the hole, though.

Just picked up some mint ADC-18's
We just picked up a pair of these vintage ADC-18's from an estate sale. A very interesting and might I say, "Beautiful" speaker. I currently have them hooked up the a Harman Kardon AVR330 and though not a lot a power, they really sound great. Not a lot of info on them online as far as value or demand but what a great look and great sound. I am not sure if the previous posters got the pics or not, but I would be happy to snap some and post online.

Pics of my ADC-18 Loudspeakers
OK - Attached are two pics of the ADC-18's - Sorry for the mess around them as I am in the process of moving my home office out to the garage and decided to use these speakers next to my make shift desk. Pretty cool units, sound great and I popped the back off one to inspect since the fronts dont come off. I was amazed at the quality of construction as well as all the funky insulation that ADC used. It looks like a real project to get to the actual speaker fronts to inspect the rings but from the sound it looks as though I got ahold of a great pair. Enjoy the pics
