Trio-Kenwood Catalog 1977 : High Res Scans

240 Volts

Strange, yet oddly normal
I recently bought a Trio-Kenwood catalog covering the 1977 UK model ranges and thought that it would be a good idea to post it on AK in it's entireity (all 30 A4 pages).
This is going to take me quite some time as I'm scanning the pictures in high resolution and then editing them to remove as many blemishes as I can. Please be patient!!
Because of the resultant file sizes (just under 1Mb per page, resolution 2500 x 3500 pixels) I'm having to use Photobucket to host the images instead of AK's server.

Edit : Finally finished all the scans 24-08-2009. So it took me well over a year to do - not easy getting scans of a 33 year old catalog to look good. Hope it's of some interest to everyone out there in AK land. :thmbsp:

....and when you're done I offer to combine everything into a pdf-file for those who prefer that.
Gimme a yell when you've completed the scans.

rgds,

I don't think it was called Trio in Europe - at least not here in Sweden. My stuff, except for an oscilloscope, is labelled Kenwood.

But that might have been different in the UK?

Somebody's trying to sell a Japanese Trio tuner locally. It only has half of the US FM band...

Trio in UK & they became Kenwood if I recall correctly around very late 70's /early 80's

I thought at the time it was a sell out / buy out as Kenwood made all sorts of domestic appliances & therefore the Kenwood name did not have as much credibility ... I also think this damaged them for a good while in the UK market.

I bought a Trio KR3200 & my Dad bought a Trio KR 5400 (& we still have both)
when the name changed I swapped my allegiance.

Nice. Looking forward for the full collection in .PDF. I wonder if Axcel would be interested, as well.

Can't wait for the 700 series scan!!!!
I'm waiting for the 700 scans as well.
Sorry to disappoint you both, but the 700 series does not feature in the UK catalog I have. Guess us Brits were thought to be just too poor to afford it. :tears::tears:

I'd agree with the UK name change from Trio to Kenwood being in the early 80's. Certainly my Trio KA-801, KT-815, KX-1060, KR-9600 are all Trio (if that makes sense) as opposed to Kenwood. I much prefer the Trio name to Kenwood for the reasons outlined by REDone above.

Thanks for the great scans. Any Kenwood info is always appreciated as it's so hard to come by. Looking forward to the rest of the catalog.

Best regards and good job.
