Now I think I am really in trouble as I have finally found a Mac speaker which I prefer over all other previous models, the XRT1K !! Time to sell my Dynaudios perhaps :scratch2:? The XRT2K didnt do it for me, and it is not a matter of budget. But these XRT1K is something else, they were really smooth and relaxed....... May be I should give Mike a call in the morning ? :scratch2:

Or may be the sound was coming from the turntable ? or could it be the tube magic of the MC275 ?

I spent quite a bit of time at the Mac room, and literally EVERYONE was talking about the turntable. I will not be exaggerating if I say there was a lot of people talking about this "controversal" piece of Mac gear. I hear conversations in the lobbies, hallways, and other exhibitors' rooms. How hot is the new turntable ? According to Ron-C, McIntosh sells 2x as many turntables as the MC402 in the first few months of production.

The turntable DOES look a lot nicer along side other McIntosh gears. I dont think Michael Fremer was trying to be "politically polite" judging by what he said on Stereophile, I think he meant what said.

A close up photo like this is NOT EASY to take, especially with my limited photographic skills.

Notice whats driving the XRT1Ks, not MC501s but a pair of bridged mono MC275s, and the MC2300. If you're looking for a Mac Speaker, give the XRT1K a try. I liked what I heard today ! :music::tresbon:

I decided to go back to the room on Wednesday to listen to the system again. This time, they've got the curtains down and the TT looked gorgeous under dim lighting.

Must have been the room... ;)

That's good to know about the XRT1K Rick.
I will have to put a demo on my list of things to do this year.
Again, thanks for the great pics!:D

I must have missed you in the Mc room by less then and hour. The system did sound nice to me but sady someone had broken the turntables stylus shortly before I arrived. Sure hope they replaced it for today.

okay, theres the MT-10...with 275's must have been very "warm" in that room in an analogue way...

Who invited Howie's father in law? :sigh:

Greg thanks for the beautiful pictures. It must be like being on a vacation. It's hard to believe your thinking of giving up your Dynaudio speakers. If you get a chance could you check out the Enigma by Synergistic Research on the 9th floor of the Venetian Hotel, room 227. I guarantee you it will be one the highlights of the show. They won at RMAF. I'm adding it to my Mac setup at the end of the month and would like to get your take on it.

I really like those A Frame stands, anyone know who makes those??? Sure look like they can handle MAC gear extemely well!
