Stopped by a new (to me) St Vinnie's in a nearby town and saw a pair of speakers with a 1" square metal logo plate, that looked like an 'A' and 'M' superimposed, the M being a block type and the A a thin line type.
The cabinets were about 18"h x 10"w x 8"d, covered in a very nice medium reddish-brown veneer. The front grill cloth was black, beveled forward from the edges, and it felt like there was probably an 8" woofer and a 3-4" tweeter. On the back was a dull gold recessed plate with red & black binding post/banana jacks, a rotary knob and a thin red post that looked like a circuit breaker reset. At the bottom it said 'Model 8" and then a serial #. The $20 tag the thrift had placed said 'JL AU" but I'm not sure where they came up with that as it's nowhere on the outside.
They definitely weren't a cheap, discount speaker, but the letters didn't ring a bell with me. Anybody have a clue as to what they could be? Hopefully something worthwhile!
