Yes, that's about what they've been selling for ($100 - $150) at that auction site.

After reading your speaker signature I'm wondering what speakers you plan on eq'ing. The sg9800 is a well made unit and purdy to look at but kinda high in price I'd say if you don't plan on using it; jmho.

Just picked up two units and driving home I was asking 'why?' because I know for sure that I don't need them... you tell me...
I did get the Pioneer SG-9800 equalizer. Its a perfect 10/10 unit purchased (by me) from the original owner complete with the original bill of sale from "2001 Sound Centre" dated January 12, 1980 for $429.00 plus taxes of 17.16 for a total of 446.16. Even has the serial number on the bill of sale for warranty purposes. Also the original operating instructions and the colour advertising brochure. The advertising brochure ust be from he first went and looked at it for a quote because it has a note on the bottom "$429"
Did I do bad? I hope not because there is more!!
I also got a Pioneer Sx-3800 receiver. It, too, is a perfect 10/10 unit with everything working, even every light! As above, from the original owner complete with the original bill of sale from "2001 Sound Centre" dated January 6, 1982 for $489.95 plus taxes of 29.40 for a total of 519.35. Again showing the serial number on the bill of sale for warranty purposes. Also the original operating instructions (no colour advertising brochure) but the schematic (11" x 34").
Not too often the gear comes with all original paperwork so I think I actually did OK .. and if I don't keep the stuff, some AKer will end up with a nice package...

Waiting for Vintage Gear from this century
I was thinking that second post would be the pictures.
I picked up an SA-9500 a while ago. all boxes, all input covers all electrical outlet covers, volume knob allen wrench, poop sheet, manual, receipt, full line brochure, schematic and in great condition. Having all that stuff increases the value considerably for the collector. You did well with your units. but what to do with them?

Blue Shadow ... yes, the second post...I did something with the buttons...my bad ...pictures tomorrow .... too much Bordeaux...I could work the camera but I;m not carrying gear around right now, would be a poor plan.
Bondar ... as you might imagine, the vendor had many calls for his gear and I most assuredly did not get away with $125 for both pieces ... he was after more for each piece...when I inquired about $125 for the sg-9800, that was what I was planning on offering if the pieces were nice...then I saw them ... not very often you see perfect pieces.
You also feel a bit comfortable when you are i his man-cave, he has his Sansui Quad, several Crown amps, some big vintage JBLs, etc Whether you like what he is keeping, at least you know he is not just a dealer or a flipper...not when you get the Op Inst with his 27 year old bill of sale...
For myself, I don't think I want to keep either of them, but the thought of some avaricious dealer just trading them ...no, I'm just an audio-junky...I could not pass them up after I saw them.

Waiting for Vintage Gear from this century
I picked up an SG-9800 yesterday and it is in very nice shape. No box/manual but the database has the latter. Looking it over, it is a nice bit of kit, not the small, cheap, light weight common 10-band eq floating around for $5-$40 on CL.
I don't really need an eq either, but this one may stay a while as it sort of compliments the Crown DL2 preamp I got recently.
