1. 1970s vintage. 3-ways with rear passive 10" disk.

2. The top fabric section is purely cosmetic. 28" tall.

3. The brand has been mentioned on AK.

The tweeters look like the Pioneer cone type that Parts Express sells, but they state that they were used on many popular Japanese speakers. The cabinet design looks like Technics....

wellp, the EIA code on the woofer is 1056 which, according to WeberVST.com is Fisher. So, I guess my guess is Fisher/Sanyo.

The tweeters do indeed look to be the generic 2-1/2" "Pioneer" sold by PE.

However it is possible that the maker rebadged it from another company.

I know nothing about it, neither did the guy I bought it from, except that his dad bought it new (locally) in the 70s. The paper-surround tweeters of course.

The back says '5-year Warranty'. :D
Did the company last that long? Serial Numbers 793699/793700.

The circuitry looks rediculous; just those 3 rotary controls, no caps??

All the money went into the venier, which is actually quite nice...overhanging sides shows it's 7/8" MDF but the front and back is thinner.

I thought the woofers looked like the Gefco's in some Klipsch and my DQ-12's. I really got my 250 pennies worth here for spare parts!

Yes, I did plug it in...on its back (surroundless but the spiders are intact). Sounds better than I would have thought! Smooth, and some bass is there; the cab is 12" deep, unlike most passive-radiator types. 28 x 15 x 12".

More hints in case this is just too wierd. Want the first letter...? :scratch2:

Considering the wide experience represented here, yet these remain Mysterious.

Not Sharp either. But I'm looking for the Brand Name listed on the warranty card stapled to the backs.
I don't know if they are rebadged from something else.

But these probably go by the slogan "Just because it's rare doesn't mean it's valuble". :D

Those leveling knobs are the same knobs fords used to have in the early 90's to control the heat in the car
 
Not Quadraflex. Right vintage though.

They sometimes had funny shelf-like parts on the upper front section. This Mystery Speaker has a funny cosmetic grill-like accent on the front half of the top.

Quadraflex was the budget alternative in the Pacific Stereo lineup. Doesn't seem like they would have veniered front faces under the grill.

The level controls are probably the most unusual feature. Large, deep, and non-linear (zero to infinity -dB).

Ford? We must really be scraping the bottom of the barrel! But no.

Well if Sharp is involved, and its well made, it might be a pair of Optonicas. I hadn't realised they made speakers, but apparently they did. But those level controls -- I've seen them before... Radio Shack? Lafayette? Avid? I'm getting desperate -- I had a pair of speakers with them once, what the hell were they?
