Wharfedale w70d tweeter problem

I have the purple tweeters and they are not working. The wires look good but i suspect they must be broken inside. Is there a way to fix them or does someone have a source for a replacement. I just replaced a woofer and this is my last step. I have hooked the tweeters up to speaker wires to test but no output.

Been there...

The wires connecting the terminal posts on the front tend to break. You'll need to carefully slide a razor blade around the edge of the purple diaphragm and lift it up and off, while carefully pulling the wires out from underneath. Then you'll need to resolder them and do this....

Not work for those with shaky hands.....
 
Also the glue on those tweeters tend to disintegrate over time especially if they are pushed.
 
I have a pair of Meltons with the purple tweeters, and when I got them the glue was all but gone and one wasn't working. They had the same fault as Analog said.
 
Thanks for all the help guys! Now i must get to work. What kind of glue should i use when i put them back together?
 
No Worries...

I just used white/tacky glue all the way around the plastic donut to seal it up. If you have to do the rewiring/solder repair, make sure you place the layer of insulation/scotch tape on the bare metal of the base before wrapping the wire from front to back....

A DMM will let you know what you need to do....:thmbsp:
