Hello AKers,

Has anyone ever heard of either of these two models of speakers?

Heath ASX-1383 - a three way floorstanding design, funky looking sloped cover

AR SRT 330 Studio Recording Transducers - made by Acoustic Research, floorstanders about 3.5 feet high

If yes, any feedback on them or links to other information would be appreaciated? Value? Years made? Efficiency? Sound quality? Reputation?

Not sure about the model of the heathkit, but I would bet those might have some JBL, or maybe possible Altec drivers.. or, a rare chance of some EV drivers..
 
Nope, much newer are these.
Heathkit's attempt at time-aligned three-ways, reminiscent of KEF 105s.
I don't recall hearing them when they were new... probably decent, though.
By the late 1970s, many Heath speakers were using Philips drivers, but these aren't obviously Philips drivers (to me); they could be Philips, though.

Thats a mighty well-designed looking speaker, there. Very impressive. The time linear phase thing was novel at the time, but not particularly difficult to deal with in other ways. What impresses me more are all of the curved edges on the baffle, I bet it's got most diffraction problems licked.
 
I had a pair of AR SRT 330 a year ago, which I had picked up just down the street from me at a rummage sale. The only thing I could find out about them was the guy bought them in Korea when he was in the service. Not much on the interweb,either.

They had no-name drivers, and were simply built in my view, and sounded similar to some Cerwin Vegas I remember. I tried to get $50 for them on craigslist for a couple of weeks but eventually donated them to goodwill.

Here are some pictures of the Heath ASX-1383s. The sub in one picture is a Mirage S-8 to reinforce the bottom end. These are some sweet sounding speakers. I got a couple of manuals with them. I think they were actually built by an individual as a Heath Kit.

Here are some pictures of the AR SRT 330 Studio Recording Transducers. These sound good on Jazz, but tend towards being very bright. Not near the speaker that the Heath's are.
