OK . . . hopefully botrytis will chime in with the technical details, but I'll post our work from today . . .

I was enlisted to help him as I have a plunge router, and I'm not afraid to use it :D. He has a Jasper circle jig, which blows the DOORS off my homemade redneck masonite circle jig (no surprise there . . . )

the cabinets are now-discontinued Parts Express Jobbers that are BEAUTIFUL; detachable baffles, 1 cubic foot interior volume, and just very well made . . . drivers are . . . ummm . . .. botrytis ! chime in dude !

my daughter Sabrina was helping, and the hole cutting went very smooth . . . we also cut a 1/4 inch flange to allow flush mounting the drivers. Tweeters were offset slightly from center to allow a little flexibility with placement.

we did a VERY quick test after assembly running them off one of my Magnavox tube amps running RCA 6V6G coke bottles in Push/Pull, and a ipod as a source.

check out the pix :thmbsp: hopefully botrytis will add some more when they return to their home turf . . .

I've got the main room pretty much cleared out in anticipation for the June 'Markus AK Day' . . . lots of room for equipment :yes:

Sabrina is a riot . . . towards the latter halfd of the day, she was bugging me to help her 'make a speaker' so I set her up with the screw gun and a plywood box. She wanted to use 'Dave's stuff' (speaker gasket) so we broke her off a piece to seal her 'speaker' to the box . . .

Yeah -- it starts off innocently enough! Next thing you know she's building better speakers than you do! :D

It's important to start 'em out in the right direction early on!!
 
www.aespeakers.com is still alive and well and not focusing on automotive subwoofers much at all. Some are appropriate for that application, but he focuses on high end home and pro audio. I think the mids were called SA071s or something to that effect and at the time would have been branded Stryke until DEI came after them after one of their aquisitions (or annihilations of good companies) netted them Stryke as a model name of one of their brands. John at Stryke didn't have the money for a legal battle, so Acoustic Elegance or aespeakers it became. The woofers they sell are top notch.

The MTM kit you built should sound very nice. Component cost was low, but they were solid performers. Most people claim that break in will help them, I didn't notice too much difference after the first minute or two.

Thanks for the info - the original boxes got wet and well - I had to do something about that. I will tell you they seem to sound better on my Mitsu DA-A10DC amp (100 WPC) than our Luxman Receiver (R-115 70 WPC) on the main system and this was listening to them in the same room, etc.

My office sytem now is using those speakers - WOW - Kenwood Basic C1 pre, Mitsu DA-A10DC amp, Denon DCD-820 CD player, and Yamaha T-1060 Tuner.

I KNEW they'd sound great on that monster Mitsubishi ! you gotta bring those back in Jnne after they've loosened up - even runnign off the little Magnavox they sounded really good - the little 15 watter just ran out of steam. . .

slightly off-topic, but did you go all karate-kid on the other cabinets' woofer holes yet ? anxious to see/hear those too . ..
 
Although I've never heard MTM's, I really like the design of them. I've always wanted to hear the Polk LSi-9's. Looks like you've done a very nice job there, I'd like to hear them sometime.
