Please, someone explain to me why would anyone pay $600+ for this??? For that much money you can get a working McIntosh gear like MCD7000, MR73, etc. Am I missing something?

Easy, 1. They were never sold to the public, 2. They have not been made for a few years now. Makes them highly collectable. 600. seems cheap.

I have to admit it seems like it would be cool to have that baby lit up in my room, but for that kind of $$$ for a lamp I would pass.

But if you have the money to bid for it, and win, then you have the cool sign and I don't.

One w/ box just sold today for $ 1,200.00! Not sure if any of you saw the repro lighted clock (not a true McIntosh piece) that just sold for $599.00.

The Curtis clock of a Memphis McIntosh dealership was really sharp looking.

Simply put, it is a collectors item. Look at the collectors market for things like old Coke signs.

I would buy as many as you can find for $600.

Was that clock a vintage piece or just a reproduction?
I thought it was hard to tell from the description and wondered if it was just bid up in the hysteria like the Mc Book engenders there.

The guy selling the clocks looks as though he reproduces faces to appear as though they were real but don't believe it actually came from a dealership and is NEW!

I could be mistaken but all of his clocks look alike. Still cool but not authentic from what I can tell.

Sorry to the OP as I didn't mean to take this thread OT.

The signs are McIntosh collectors items and I would be happy to have one for $ 600.00 myself.

If I ever spent this kind of cash for such an item........my wife would toss my ass out onto the mean streets of NYC.......trust me......all I can say is it's nice to have this kind of disposable income.

Well, it sold on AG for $600 today. I think my local dealer has three or four sitting around. Hum.... If I get them, I'll post them on Barter Town. Hook you guys up!

DJAMTRAX,
I could be wrong but I think it was you from the system pics thread, that had the signed McIntosh Poster over your system - now I think that was cool.
Maybe cooler then the sign, because it's signed.

They have 5 plus a dead one in the back. Good luck on being the first to try to buy one. :lmao:

Carl

I guess you already tried. :)

I like my signed Power Trip poster. I didn't think much of it and it sat in the tube for years before I framed it. Too bad Sidney wrote my name on it. Otherwise it will be on the bay. J/K :D
