Finally, Sansui G8000 restored

I know that the most members of AK dont like so many words, so my introduction will be short. That G8000 I have bought about one year and half beffore on ebay. I was lucky because at that time, USPS still made shipping by boat, and it was slowly shipping (about three months to Europe) but very cheap (about 80 US$). But when I finally got it, I was mad, look how it was looking:

So first I cleaned it:

After so many searching all over the web, I have found finally potentiometers with click positions, and I replaced all damaged potentiometers:

I replaced all electrolytic capacitors with Nichicon MUSE, Elna, BC Vishy, Rubycon... depends where capacitors are placed.

Thank you guys for nice words about my job.

I always wish to say; do not hurry with job such restoration old receiver, it is much better to replace 10 capacitors per day than damage some board or make some mistake... I can say that I didnt damage neither one board or connection point.

Now I am testing is it all OK, I putted 100kHz sine wave on input, and on speakers output I connected 200 W 8 ohm resistors, and check do it has some oscillations, the scope shows perfect sine wave:thmbsp:. After that I putted 80 Hz sine wave, and kept it on 100 W power per channel for 10 minutes, that test passed OK too. So now, I can say, it is ready for my main setup.

Kale, how did you decide which holco, caddock, etc resistors to put where on the driver boards? I've not seen much on these parts on this forum. Thanks!

Amazing job. Really. I wish I had the skills for a project such as that. My G-8000 has mostly stock components yet it sounds great.

You Sir, are a Craftsman in the purest form. That was a labor of love and I'll bet every note sounds all the sweeter. Congratulations on the beautiful restoration of a great receiver, I wish I had your skill and patience.

BTW, here I wish to show you only one modification what I made in that receiver. You know that at beginning of some restoration, you should decide will you make only restoration or you will make some modifications too. On that receiver, I decided to do only restoration, but one thing, Sansui did on bad way. To correct that Sansui mistake, I have had a big help from another Croatian member ilimzn.
So first about what I am talking here;
There, I am talking about connections of main capacitors. You know that G8000 has 4 pcs of 6800uF capacitors per channel, and that is very good, but Sansui made a mistake how they are connected. First of all, wire of ground is so long! Second, wires of power supply and wires of power stage are connected into one point.

So, we need to separate pair of power supply capacitors from capacitors of power stage, and make better ground wiring.
I did that job on the next way:

As you can see pair of power supply capacitors I connected with pair of power stage capacitors by solid wire in Teflon insulation trough ferrite to protect power stage against HF noises.

I have another on G8000 which has rusty case. On that G8000 I will do restoration AND modifications (high speed diodes in supply, new Sanken transistors in TO3P cases...)

But, my bench is not special, I just think that is sometime small for that job. Here I have one picture how it looks like:
