Blues Vinyl and othe weekend finds
I do not profess to be a blues music authority. However I sense that it may be most respected music out there. I guess I just haven't had enough tradjedy / woe in my life yet to appreciate blues and desire to listen to it. I don't have a hound dog to run off and leave me etc...
I was 1st in line at a lawn sale and I purchased the following because of price 0.25 per LP, condition excellent and suspect they may good music. John Lee Hooker "Mad Man Blues" - Chess Masters Double Album The Super Super Blues Band - Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley - Chess Records The Lonely Drippers - Volume 1 ( Produced by Nugetre and the Fabulous Brill Brothers ) - ES Paranza (Atlantic) Records The owner said he felt that somehow Led Zepplin was connected with this one ???. I don't think you could get hurt on any type of music for a quarter a pop!
I believe you did good. Do you like 'em? That's what matters. The Lonely Drippers triggered something in the cobwebs in the back of my mind. It seems I have heard a connention between the two, I just don't remember what it is. Enjoy your new finds! Brad

The Honey Drippers were a Band that Robert Plant Fronted in the 1980's. They had a top singel off the Lp called Do you rememeber which was a remake of an artist that escapes me. Not sure if thats who you are talking about. On the Chess Lp is it heavier vinyl. Some of the later 1970s and 80's stuff was made from cheaper vinyl. I tend not to like those as much as the earlier heavy vinyl

Blues seems to be about the hardest to find on vinyl. Jazz is hard but there is quite a bit of newer jazz out there from the 80's and such. Blues on the other hand......I have none, I don't even think I have seen any in all my searching. I have some Lena Horne and some Nat King Cole, but no real blues ie; B.B. King, Hooker, etc.
I guess I could go to a certain way cool used record shop on the campus, but then that takes all the fun out of it. Hey, anybody else notice how the 50's and early 60's covers are a bit ..ah.. racy? I love marching band covers and those mood music covers, all those good lookin' gals just waiting to be seduced, whoooyeahhhhh!!!!

 Hey VinylHanger Check out this site for some good blues selections. http://www.vinylrevival.com/lists/blues.shtml I didn't check the whole site, but it seems like they have a lot of stuff. Also, my son says Amoeba Records has a good jazz/blues section, if you're anywhere near one.  Happy Listening George
