Ever heard of John Iverson???

I recently met a guy while selling some stuff on ebay. During a long talk with him about audio he mentioned that he had three John Iverson Eagle amps. He said these amps had unregulated power supplies and just one would dim the lights in his house! He also told me about some of the other VERY high end equipment he had had in the past ( the ones I had heard of before were VERY impressive...) and he said that these Eagle amps were going to the grave with him. I had never heard of John Iverson nor had I ever heard anything about his disappearance before. The guy sent me these links to an article from an Absolute Sound Magazine (from a 1994 issue...) about his life and disappearance . Anyone who has never heard of him should read this. The guy was truly a genius and innovator in the audio field (and others...). It's a very long read but well worth the time. to this day he is still missing and there are no leads as to what happened to him. Has anyone here had any experience with any of his gear???:scratch2:

Yup! Very sharp designer! I believe he is also the designer for the top-of-the-line Parasound Halo series as well.

As far as the Eagle amplifiers are concerned, as I recall, their big boy was the Eagle 7A and it was a brute. The more common Eagle 2A is also a great amp as well and a little easier to find. You don't seem to see many Eagles on the secondary market because most owners feel the same way as your friend does. Eagle is still around and still does upgrades to its line of amplifiers. The Eagle 7A was Johns 7th amplifier design that is what the 7 stands for.
A was it was for American made. I have 2 of these great amps and would
never sell them too. I took a unit several years ago to a Mac clinic for
testing next to some Mac s/s. The tech made a joke before he even ran
a test with is this thing going to blow up. After his testing he came back
with a much different line. He was impressed it was rated at 300WPC and
did 380WPC at its rated distortion at all frequencies. I still have the test
set to this day also. Serial#20 & 43 Live on John were ever you are:thmbsp:
