Yamaha M-70 All better

I found a very clean M-70 about 2 weeks ago, when I hooked it up and turned it on it was fine for 2 minutes then a loud bang followed by a garage full of smoke. :wtf: I got it turned off as quick as I could and found a blown cap. I called and emailed Yamaha support and they hooked me up with the part I needed. I got it today and put it in and know I'm jammin again. I wish all repairs would be this easy. It's been going for 3 plus hours so my pucker factor is gone. N8

Isn't that the cap that the warning went out on? I can't find the link.
Congrat's on gettin' the Yammie back:thmbsp: Have you tried other pre-amps with it?

I have a C-60 I used at first with it but it drops the right channel once and a while so I hooked it up to my SX-850. It's not the same cap, mine is not the overseas model. It's one they sold at miltary PX's. N8

I'm using my "new" MX-800U with my trusty old 2270 as a pre and it's a jaw dropping combo, I'm just curious for later on. I don't think alot of folks new to the vintage thing realise just how good some of these older receivers are in the pre and phono dept. You'd have to spend alot more or search really hard to beat 'um. I'm still:drool::drool: ove jb's tube/SS hybrid Lazarus pre with separate power supply!
