Kamakiri - The Next Chapter

Kamakiri

The New Dynamic
Hi y'all :)

I know it's been quite some time since I've checked in to say hi and let everyone know what I've been up to, so since I'm pretty well beat today, and it's blazing hot, I figured now would be a good opportunity.

Back in November of last year, when I was without a place to live, many of you donated towards my "relief" effort, out of the kindness of your hearts. It was those contributions in large part that enabled me to purchase a single wide mobile home in Hamburg NY, and gave me a home, albeit a very modest one. I thanked you then and I thank you once again from the bottom of my heart for helping to put a roof over my head.

I'm now a single man once again, and back in the home that I had known and loved for the last 12 years (I was the only one able to get a mortgage). I moved back in on June 1, for the second time moving all of my possessions myself in my old van. Since then, I've been working like a madman trying to get things settled, a ton of work done, yard cleaned up, etc.....leaving me little time for anything else. But I wanted to pause for a moment to share my blessings and hard work with you, and perhaps even warm your hearts a bit.

One of the maxims of AudioKarma has always been to "pay it forward", as I have done so many times, and has been done with me largesse. It was the paying forward philosophy that enabled me to help another, as I was helped.

I found out about a family that had a couple years ago lost everything they owned in Louisiana from Katrina, and they had been staying in a shell of an apartment because there was nowhere else left to go. The wife and husband were employed as drivers for a local trucking company doing national runs, they wanted to move to this area as they are here more than there, and their rent in LA was doubling after the remodel was finished, which they couldn't afford.

Nor could they afford to buy a home here. They had been staying in hotels, spending all of their money with no place to truly call home.

In the spirit of which this site exists, and since I've been so blessed with the return to my home, by the end of this week I will be handing these lovely people, for the sum of one dollar, the keys to my home on Roxbury Drive. May God bless them in their recovery to a good place in life, just as I have.

By giving to me, you have in turn, through me, given someone else an opportunity at a new beginning.

Its makes me proud to call you my friend. This folks is what AK is all about.

With audio yet!

Here's the current living room setup....the Sansui G-901 and Paradigm Titans. Half of my stuff is still in boxes ;)

At the back of the G is my 17" computer monitor, which through a ViewSonic box, is my LCD TV :)

And yeah, I know this is sideways, but for some reason my computer wouldn't let me edit the photo  . This is the upstairs that I'm in the middle of remodeling for the kids room, took 4 hours to get the hardwood floor sanded...

Best luck to you. You, and everyone else here are proof that decent people still roam the wide world.

Flower beds redug and all the stone moved. What a job that was.....this used to be one flower bed, now split into two. There were weeds the size of them plant-type Pokemon in there.....

My Mustang with my new custom plates on it. Trust me, there's a reason why I did it......this is just a showoff shot :)

Been wonderin' what you been up to, ya ol' bald-headed so-'n'-so...Was kinda worried, but I can see that I need not have been...Guys like you restore my faith in humanity...

Got my 11 year old cat Fluffy in the deal.....had him since he was a kitten. Nice to have someone around to keep me company, when I walked back into a bare house, he looked at me as if to say, what happened???

He had to be left behind when she moved on. I can identify with that cat.

Thanks to the big heart of AK member Roundscreen (Ed), I now once again have old TVs :D

Remember though, I'm still moving in and around, so it's not as packed in down there as it looks ;)

My bed is in the basement until the rest of the rooms get done, this pic taken actually from the bed.

And, last but not least, the garage.....oh, the victories I've had in those four walls :)

So, it's a slow but steady process. The only thing that I know now is, that I'm home.....
