Ste-ma type 375

IT'S ME, IT'S ME...IT'S..
I picked up a pair of Ste-ma type 375 speakers, made in Denmark. I tried to sell them on Ebay recently but they did not sell and good thing. I am keeping them they are the clearest speakers I have ever heard. I have had Magnepans and Klipsch but these strange speakers really hold their own. Only thing is I cannot find any info on these speakers, can any one help?

Ste-ma pictures

I posted some more pictures of the Ste-ma. Can anyone tell me more, are they concidered "GOOD SPEAKERS"?

Ah,should have guessed that!Not SEAS drivers but Peerless.Both very common in those days.
The woofer looks like one of the 10-inchers(hard to tell without seeing the surround),probably the C100W.Mid is the GT50MRC and treble the MT20HFC.You'll also find a series xover filter as these were practically standard when it comes to Peerless.Xover frequencies probably 750 and 4000 cps.
A scan from the Peerless catalog shows a kit similar to yours,except with a 8 in woofer:

just amazing the info here at AK sometimes.
 
Peerless made fine drivers back in those days that still hold their own with current designs. I would recommend swapping out the capacitors for some high quality modern poly caps and adding some sound dampening material to the inside cabinet walls. I've never been a fan of latticed grilles as I see any solid object in front of a driver as a source of sound wave interference, but they sure look cool! (lol)

Rolf Zetterberg is an inexhaustible source to info on (e.g.) Scandinavian speakers and hifi!

These days I'm pulling the very nice looking units of the Peerless Kit 3-25 out of a pair of 110 liter diy boxes. Unfortunately one of the big (10 or 12 inch) woofers is defect (rubbing). But it sure is good looking and - apparently (not much info on the net!) - good sounding too!

PS: iIve met not a few STE-MA speakers at GW shops here in Denmark but never b(r)ought any back home. They don't look like something interesting! I might be wrong!
 
Wow, I cannot believe the info....the speakers have Jensen capitors in them and I took the picuture with the 6 inches of insulation (wrapped in material) taken out. I just bought a older Marantz receiver and the sound from the speakers with the Marantz is very warm...I keeping them.

I know these speakers very well, as I happen to live with the sole dealer for this brand.
I've spent this afternoon listening to Elgar through a pair of these, driven by a Philips cd104 through a Sansui au555a :)
 
Excellent, my kids have decided that I am never to sell these speakers. I have had them in storage for over a year and 1/2. I think I will hook them up again and give them another listen.

So .... I came across a pair of these exact ones ....and this is the only place on t'internet that makes reference to them! After reading this thread .... I am NEVER getting rid! Paid £40GBP to a poor man that had to give them up for looming parenthood.
