Well my MCD-500 is now in my system. I hooked it up via balanced outputs to my C-200. I then connected my MS-300 using the digital input on the 500 to make use of the onboard DAC's.
From my previous thread you may remember the unit is replacing my Esoteric X-03se, while I was running the MS-300 thru Musical Fidelity's Tri Vista 21 DAC. I was able to eliminate an external DAC with this new setup.
Well the unit has only been on about 40 minutes so everything is just getting warmed up. First disc Alison Krauss "Live" SACD. Very good. Maybe a little better base than the X03. Next up, off the MS-300, Sarah McLaughlin. Very nice vocals. I would say better than the Tri Vista. Nils Lofgren "Live Accoustic" . Again, I think that the vocals thru the 500's DAC's are very good and natural.
It will be interesting when one of you who has the 1000 DAC is able to AB these units. I have only listened to the 1000 in stores and not in my home. I can only say Ron could be right. These new DAC's are very good.
