Care to share with us what's on the label by the tweeter? Looks like Technics but looks like someone else guessed it, too.

I will pick them up tomorrow and will know all the data then. Yep, they are the start for a pair of Ewaves. Cheers.
 
Yes Technics. The better MCS speakers were made by Technics and even have the step baffle (or pregnant penguin)
 
They look very similar to a pair of SB-4000 I picked up some time back. I didn't like them. Yours sorta look bigger, though, so I don't know...
 
I had Technics SB-7000A's (twice) and SB-5000A's. Those are good woofers and decent cabs. Should be a good basis for EWG's.
 
They look like the sb-200's I have in storage, only yours are much cleaner. I think there was a foam pad on the 'shelf' in front of the tweeter. I picked them up on nostalic value alone. I had a pair a long long time ago. They make good party speakers, the kind you don't mind if they get trashed right along with you. lol.

MCS speakers made by Technics. MCS called theirs Linear Phase. I've had a couple of sets. Fixed them and gave them away as starters for other folks. Not a bad speaker :)

These look better than the JC Penny variety, so likely real Technics factory offerings?
 
This thread is older than the hills, (and this post is more for my post count) but I just picked a pair of Technics SB 4500As. I lopped off the tweeter box, reinforced the cabinets, added some damping material, mounted an E-wave crossover, CD and waveguide, added gasket material to the woofers and fired them up. DARN! These sound great and are 93dB. What's not to love? Now, where to use them? AND, a guy came by today who is giving me some vintage Wharfdales. I don't know what model, but fingers are crossed.
