Pioneer RT-707 direction indication light

Pioneer RT-707 direction indication light; Service manual

My RT-707 push button DIRECTION lights (both left & right) are out, but their direction change function are working correctly.
Anyone change these light bulbs before? how? and where do you get them?
I already removed the front panal and the light indication assy's 2 attached screws, but I can't pull bulbs out from the back or from the front of the assembly. I do not want to force too much until I am sure the way to pull from front or rear of the assembly.
Is the light, Bi-Pin Lamp (no base) 26V 35mA (from schematic)?

Changing the Direction lamps on an RT-707...

I have performed the same operation on an RT-707, but some of the details are fuzzy at this point. As you already know, David Wojo is the guy for the lamps.

Pushing the lamp out of the holder... Yeah... That's part of the detail that I'm fuzzy about. Once you remove the lamp holder from the chassis, then you should be able to push the lamp out of the holder Push from the front of the bulb holder so that the bulbs, still attached to thier wires are left protruding from the tape player's chassis.

The lamp replacement / splicing... When you get the new lamps from Dave, don't remove the wires he provides. Just cut the wires on the new lamps short enough that the fit to the wires that are left after cutting the old lamps off their wires. This is where I suggest using the appropriate diameter of shrink wrap tubing as an insulator for the wire splices that you are going to make. Shrink wrap makes for a nice neat joint.

When I perform the same operation on a receiver that needs new lamps, I do the same thing except I leave enough wire to place the spliced joints in a non-obvious place. As I recall, you don't have a lot of room where the lamp wires for the RT-707 pass through the chassis and reach out to the lamp holder. Leave as much wire as you need propruding from the chassis so you can make the splice.

The front panel and rear cover remove quite easily, maybe 10 minutes. Open it up, blow the dust out with compressed air or I use a 30 lb air tank presurrized to 130 lb, a high velocity nozzle and hand trigger. Use a very soft long handle make up brush that you can buy in any drug store for one or two $. Brush the small electronic componets while blowing out the unit from all side. Use a sift cloth and small brush when needed to clean the PCB and all componets. Do a thorough inspection, the light bulbs should be easy to locate. Use a VOM to check continuity. Check for loose solder connections, if all is sound remove the light (desolder) and replace. The replacement bulbs come with about 4 - 6" of wire leads so that you can splice the wire to make soldering easier. You can also twist the conductors and tape the wire, but I recommend a solder fix which is permanent and much better. Good luck, have fun and post some pics.
