I have to confess I did not make this machine. I bought a bunch of parts to build my own but never got around to it.
I was searching on CL for a bread machine for the motor when I came across the estate auction I went to a couple weeks back. To my joy I came across one the guy had made. Luckily I was able to get away while they were bidding on all the audio equipment in the basement. I don't think anyone else knew what it was or was too interested in the other stuff. I got it for the opening bid!
He must have put a lot of time and effort into this thing. It has the normal switches for turning the table and vacuum on. But it also has a switch for applying cleaning fluid and an automatic record clamp. The pump doesn't seem to work although it does sound like it is trying. I may have to replace that.
I haven't had the time to try it out and decided to today on my day off. Wow! If anyone out there likes to listen to vinyl I would recommend either making one or getting some kind of cleaning machine. This thing is a lot uglier than the pictures show but it works great.
I mixed up a batch of 1 part isopropyl, 3 parts water and a couple drops of Dawn. I found out that it works best if you apply the fluid and scrub with a cleaning brush. Then let sit for about 5 minutes and scrub again. Vacuum and rinse 2 times and wipe any remaining fluid off with a micro fiber cloth.
It didn't seem to work as well if I didn't let it sit for the 5 or so minutes.
