Dumpster Diving

I usually hang around the vintage television section of this website,but
last nite I pulled a bunch of stuff out of the trash that may be of interest
to the audio crowd.I included a pic, 2 ampex reel to reel consoles,an ampex
portable reel to reel w/amplified speakers,a Revere reel to reel,a McIntosh 240 stereo power amp(tube),a McIntosh stereo preamp,and a thorens turntable.This equipment belonged to Wade Denning.There were a;so hundreds of tapes,but they were on the bottom of a overfilled dumpster.The guys cleaning out the house came out and helped me load all this stuff into my truck,one guy was the grandson of Wade Denning( I googled his name to find more info)My family, girlfriend.etc.. do not appreciate this kind of stuff,so I posted this here,because I have to tell someone :-)

un friggin believable.. if it's nothing you'll use, it sure will be a NICE profit for more TV stuff..

Kind of ironic Halloween is coming up too, and it just happens to be stuff from Wade Denning..
 
Yeah, according to IMDB he died about a year ago. The grandson should be ashamed for throwing tapes and equipment into a dumpster, many of those tapes could have been his own compositions. Talk about uncaring and ignorant.

This would be the reason I would have taken all the tapes. May be something in there that is WELL worth much more than any of this gear. Could be some real gems in there that would just be too cool to be able to say you own.
 
Well,everything must go,maybe I would like to keep the "mac" stuff,I have plenty of fisher,heathkit,eico,scott,and altec tube audio.(in the present and past)Never thought I would have some Mcintosh equipment,I would like to get it running and see what all the"hubub" is about.Okay the tapes are at the bottom of a water-filled dumpster,probably trashed.Wade Dennings grandson told me(as we were loading this stuff up) that his family had called museums,radio clubs,record collectors etc,and
was basically told to call the Salvation army. They were happy that I was willing to rescue all this stuff from the trash

That's really cool, that someone (you) found them who'll appreciate them. Congrats! :thmbsp: BTW, just out of curiosity, what Mc preamp is it?

Well, we all know your 500B well, so I can imagine what other goodies you are hording. Whoever inherits something like that will be the privileged care taker of it until it is passed on again.
