JBL L36 + Marantz

I was thinking about selling my L36 Decades. Just wasn't enthralled paired with my Sui 890DB.

Tried them with my newly acquired and repaired 2220B (thanks to catrafter) and wow what a difference :banana:

The Marantz mellows the Decades out. Nice full bass but not overpowering. Mids and hi's seem more refined where they were edgy with my Sui.

Could also be the recapped 2220B amp board from catrafte. Whatever it is I'm keeping this pairing in rotation for a while. Great synergy :music: :tresbon:

Thanks for the tip. I'll hook mine up to my newly restored 2238B tomorrow and see how they sound.
 
I'm beginning to wonder if the Sui combo was demonstrating any distortion in the Sui. It has not been recapped while amp section in the Marantz has.

So much smoother sounding highs and mids. I was really ready to sell the JBL's and had a buyer over at Lansing site. Had to pull back the offer.

I also love the Marantz with my Dynaco A25's.

I've said it before,so once again....There IS a synergy there.....just something magic about this combo of superior elements....... Try it, you'll like it.
