Hi All

Mine is 1972 Mordaunt Short MS400 and a couple of Dynatrons from 1977. They are all original - not modified or upgraded.

The MS400 is good in mid freq. and Dynatrons are efficient so great with tube amps.

I would like to know what you are using, and also find out who is using and owning the oldest speakers.

Please upload photos of the speakers if you could. I will do likewise soon.

The first pair of speakers I bought was way back when with my paper route money and it was a pair of AR 93's on sale at Circuit City. I was waiting at the loading dock with my mother and the guy rolls out a pair of AR 91's and had them loaded before I could decide if I should say something. To this day I am a proud and original owner of a pair of AR 91's that I have had well over 20 years. They have been all around the country with me and still sound strong..........So far karma has not bit me in the A-- for not speaking up. I am considering selling them after the new year and getting a more vintage pair. Ya win some and you loose some.

The only pics I have on hand are ones taken recently when I refoamed the woofers. First pic is of the speaker laying flat on the carpet and the next is looking down into where the woofer goes and seeing all the caps, wires etc...

I think my Large Advents (A4s) are from 1974. They are mint, with new surrounds and with all the original paperwork. It's hooked up to a recently spiffed up Sansui 9090DB (Thanks Rob!).
 
I have a pair of Kenwood 2way [10" woofer & 2" tweeter] not sure what year they are but sound pretty good for a shop system[drivin by an old sansui int. amp]
 
AR3's I believe from 1967+/-....though I've not pulled the drivers to confirm.

AR3a's that I have pulled the drivers from (refurbing cabs right now) state April 1968 on the magnets.
 
My Original Large Advents, 2 pairs. 1 pair re-capped and refoamed. 1 pair re-foamed but not correctly. Non concave around the outer edges.

But, both have the beveled edges. I rotate them with my HPM-100's...........R1

pioneer cs 51. from mid 60s. i think 1965. havent looked in the pioneer database in a long time. they have the pe 12 midrange driver. excellent piece. you can find it on ak either from my post or from another members post.

and then there are the no name corals in my kids room. huge buggers but with 10 inch woofers. not certain of te year.
 
In the office I have xome very nice Marantz LD 30 MkII Mini Monitors, AR 1ms and Design Acoustic PS6. (early to mid 80's) All are bookshelf size or smaller but fit the sound bill perfectly on the two gun metal gray 90 & 200 watt Carver Receivers. Probably the best sounding systems for the size!

The HT room has 4 older (rebuilt) Toby TL speakers (early/mid 80's?) that are smooth and powerful. AR1C center, mid 1990's, soon to be swapped out with DCM 600 & 700 Time Frames (early 1990's). The TF's just look & sound great, the wife agrees too.

The shop system is a hodge podge of several (ongoing) custom built wall rattling systems fed off a Crown ComTech 1600 and a Carver CT17 preamp and an old Denon DCD1600 CD player. Not much on beauty but a hell of a lot of beasts.

All three systems are very enjoyable with their intented results, but all are subject to change too.

Mid 60's? Sherwood Ravinias. X-overs rebuilt with Solens but greatly under estimated and not fully appreciated until I found a replacement pair of original "pie-pan" mids and paired it with a Foster Blair refurbished Scott 299A utilizing the 16 ohm taps.

oldest 'in collection'

1929 Sonora field coil driver which needs its matching amp to work . . . I have yet to power the damn thing up since the amp uses two 50 type tubes in the amp section . . . the type 50 tubes go for AT LEAST $400 a pair, so right now it's just eye candy. (this console is thanks to tom1356 :thmbsp:)

oldest 'in use' would be the minty field coil / PM dual 12 system in my 1947 Magnavox Belvedere . . . they've got great tone, and thanks to AK-er kymers, I have another complete console (and matching record cabinet) with the same speakers and amp (101B - PPP 6V6) . . . SO . . . sooner or later, I'll get to try these old girls in stereo on open baffles :yes: some say they rival the venerable Jensen A-12's for sound quality . . .

oldest 'standalone' speakers is a toss up I think would be my 1st generation KLH Model 6's - not a matched pair, but the older of the two is serial # 00066 . . the other contender is a pair of KLH Model 7's, both serial ##'s under # 500 . . . . the 6's and 7's are both 1958 / 1959 vintage.
