Speakerlabfan snagged these for me. In very nice shape but needing foam which i am doing now. Thought I would share as there is not a lot of info on these. Nice robust 8" woofer and 12" passive. Trim rings are anodized aluminum not plastic (nice), cab is thick all the joints are epoxied. The tweeter is some sort of large semi hard fabric dome with a HUGE magnet. Anyone know who makes it? I did run them a little very softly and all drivers work and surprisingly sounded good despite the foam rot. Nice grills and a machined aluminum badge. Nice. As some of you know I have the little brother to these as well the interface 2's which I like. So the pix...

" Anyone know who makes it?"
I always thought EV was a prime manufacturer of drivers:scratch2: Maybe after they were bought by Telex that changed, but that wasn't all that long ago - 6-8 years ago, maybe? I'm kind of wondering now... Did EV outsource driver production?

The tweeter was what they/ EV called a "super dome". It also had a thin cardboard lens that fit over the dome area as well. Those are good sounding!

Is the passive original? I thought they had those funky cylindrical things in the middle.

Yep original. The Interface A or B or whatever that need the EQ had those. I would love a pair. These are the cheap little bros to those.

All done and sound great. Nice smooth and tight bass and crisp highs. I really like them. Will be fun to get them setup on a real system instead of my office system. The tweeters are very nice and bright / crisp without being overly so.

- Thanks a lot Speakerlabfan :thmbsp:

Those domes were made in-house by EV.

In fact, with a waveguide added, those were the tweeters in the Sentry 500 studio monitors...

Nice job. I have the Interface 1 seriesII. They have the same 8'' woofer and tweeter. The foam rotted years ago, and I popped in $20 pioneer woofers. The Pioneer woofers are now starting to rot. I did not know about re-foaming 12 years ago. I saved the old woofers, but I think I then threw them out cleaning up the attic. STUPID ME:bash: I remember how good mine sounded playing "Dangerous Type" by the Cars. That tweeter originally had a grey foam covering the entire area where you see glue. It was supposed to disperse the highs. Every picture I see of that line the foam is gone (as is mine) I wish I could come upon those EV woofers somewhere. I have both of the owners manuals for mine. They cover that entire line. If you need info on them let me know.

Been listen all morning to these, man they sound good. :thmbsp: Just like there little brothers only better, just as I had hoped. Nice a clear, pretty deep bass and seem good on all material. Pretty happy about these.

Hey, I've got the Interface A but they also need refoaming.
Can you give me the adress were to get the foamrings?
Thanks!

since we are on the subject....

Here is a photo of my interface 2 's
Is the tweeter different, or is that some kind of cover?

do i want to replace the tweeters OR Re-cap the crossover?

what do you think?
